It is undeniable that the advent of internet has greatly facilitated people’s lives in the most unimaginable way. While people enjoy the convenience that internet bring to us, it also cause a series of problems
Admittedly, internet can be beneficial for individuals and society in a number of respects. Firstly, internet makes it possible that people have access to enormous information. Without the assistance of internet, students in remote locations may lose opportunities of receiving education. Moreover, it is obvious that internet is a perfect substitute for human in gathering information as well. It would be more effective for people to use online survey instead of handing out the questionnaire to collect information. In addition, internet can also boost cooperative efficiency immeasurably. For example, people who dread shopping are spared to choke of browsing in shops thank to the online store.
However, it should be pointed out that the proliferation of internet is not without its own downsides. Primarily, the widely use of internet may exacerbate man’s overdependence on it. For instance, it is not uncommon to see people get use to do everything via the internet from making appointment to spending their leisure time. As a result, this may remove their spontaneity and drive the tempo of life too fast and furious. Also, internet may breed distrust between business partners. A telecommunicated negotiation may be ruined if negotiators can only see videos of each other transmitted via the internet.
Overall, I believe that although internet has its downside, its advantages significantly overweight its drawbacks. Therefore, I am in favour of this trend. However, the way of using internet should be carefully managed, otherwise, it may jeopardise individuals’ lives. Words 279
