Academic WT2 - Will this essay score band 7 ???

Post by jesus »

In some countries young people are encouraged to work and travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.

In today’s world, individuals with versatile caliber are highly preferred. So, many countries are persuading their young citizens to involve in extra activity, namely job and travel, after completing school and before commencing university studies. Whether this approach will create a plausible ramification or constitute a unplatable result is highly contentious topic. The merits and drawbacks of this argument will be analyzed for viability in following order.

On the one hand, while in school students have childish thinking and behavior, entailing them on different areas would constitute maturity and develop professional attitude. A tangible of this is Mr. Danny Webber. After visiting birth place of Budda: Limbuni, Webber learned the proper manner of interacting with people, and devolved courage to deal with difficulties in life through the teaching of Lord Budda. It goes without saying that youths can grasp ultimate knowledge and understanding through travelling, which their school books cannot deliver. Therefore, the approach of immersing young people in extra field is difficult to debunk.

On the other hand, as adolescents start to earn money through work, they may incline towards bad habits: smoking; alcohol consumption; drug addiction and so on. The data accumulated from a research on purchase of cigarette in Pokhara, which shows that most of the young cigarette consumers are job holders, embodies this idea perfectly. In light of this, it is obvious that many young earners will probably march on wrong path. What this means is that the notion of immersing youths on different area of earning is undoubtedly preposterous.

After hashing out the pros and cons of this point of view, it is felt that adolescents should be involved in different areas to fortify their self knowledge and experience if they have leisure time. It is thus recommended that youths should utilize their free time to support their family financially, and reinforce their understanding on several areas.
