Writing task 1 - Goods transported in the UK

Post by Ecro »

Here is the graph: http://prikachi.com/images.php?images/169/8670169G.png
The graph provides information about the goods transported in the UK by four different types of transport between 1974 and 2002.

The most popular method by which goods were transported was road. In 1974 more than 70 billion tonnes were transported. From 1982 to 1990, its popularity steadily grew until 1994 when there was a slight decline to 80 billion tonnes. From 1996, it had been rapidly rising. Rail had followed road's path. However, from 1974 to 1984, it was slowly falling, and in 1984 it rose with several billion of tonnes transported. It plummeted in 1994, and from then on, it had been going up, just like "road".

The second most used transporting method was water, which in 1982 had over 58 billion of tonnes transported. Though it had been steadily descending,it started rising in 1998. The last, and least popular transporting method was pipeline. Nevertheless, it was sluggishly increasing from 1974 to 2002.

Overall, the most popular mean of transporting goods was road, followed by water, rail and pipeline. Road and rail walked a similar path even though road's figures were much higher.

Thank you for reading my Writing task 1!

Have a great day,

Hello!

The report is very general and sometimes misses out the trends for shorter periods. You should also include some more figures in the answer.

However, grammar and vocabulary are good!

All the best,
David
