Re: Assess this speaking, please

This is in response to the dream job questions. This recording was much more on-topic than the previous one about the sporting event. I heard good vocabulary, such as “profound” and “prestigious.” Be careful with the “s” sound in words like “guess” and “most.” The “s” sound in these words is voicele...

Re: Assess this speaking, please

This is a response to the sporting event recording: Hello, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this event. What a match it must have been! It still sounds like you’re reading, if not from a speech directly, at least from notes. There were some places where you sounded more conversational, but ...

Re: speaking practise -Johnson

Hello, Johnson, Thank you for uploading your new recording. This sounded quite good. It was a bit long for an IELTS exam situation, but it did thoroughly answer the question. You particularly spent perhaps too much time discussing the fact that you don’t know that much about the topic. As far as org...

Re: Part 1

Hello, Eli, Thank you for sharing your answers to these different questions. First, I would say that your vocabulary is good. I heard words like “obscure,” and “distorted.” These indicate that you have a solid understanding of specific words related to the topics on which you speak. As far as organi...

Hi, Ya123, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this important position. I agree with you that this is a vital job. I would first say that you spoke directly to the point much of the time. However, I did not feel that you gave as clear or expanded an answer as you might to the questions of who ...

Hello, Rasha, You unfortunately reminded me that it is the weekend, and I have about three loads of laundry to do tomorrow, my daughter’s bathroom needs to be cleaned. . .OH, and we are having people over for dinner tomorrow night, and I have promised to visit a friend. . .and I need to go grocery s...

Hi, Rasha, I think I would really like your dad. You obviously care greatly for him. I can say the same thing about my daddy. The world is much better for good fathers being in it. Your vocabulary was good in this example speech. I heard “symbolizes,” “vitality,” and “inspire,” for example. You orga...

Re: home town

Hi, Rasha, You spoke clearly, but I would encourage you to work on your reduction and linking to make your speech sound less stilted and choppy. You might listen to some recordings, like those on Voice of America or BBC Learning English, and try to copy the linkings and reductions you hear the broad...

Hello, again, In this recording, I really liked your organization and examples. You were clear, concise, and to the point. I think you might offer some more details, however. Perhaps you might mention that teaching younger students can be difficult because they are less serious and interested in wha...

Re: Is this acceptable?

Hi, Rasha, In this recording your vocabulary again stands out as being one of your strong points, such as when you said “passionate,” “keen,” and “up-to-date clinical research.” These very specific terms will help you get the score you want on the IELTS. Additionally, you used transition expression ...

Re: Please give me recommend for beginning recording

Hello, again, The quality of the recording made it rather difficult to understand what you were saying much of the time. In addition, pronunciation is a major issue through which you should work. I'm going to suggest that you work through one of these online pronunciation courses before your IELTS e...

Re: Please Find the mistakes in My speaking test

Hello, and thank you for sharing your recording. However, it is quite difficult to understand, not because of your pronunciation, but because the quality of the recording itself is quite poor. Could you please try again, and we will see if we can help you improve your speaking? Thanks!

Hello, Nguyenquanghuy, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about camping. That is an enjoyable outdoor activity, for sure! Listening to a lot of English, like on the BBC's Learning English website, or that of Voice of America, could help you. Listen to a short section of a news story, then read the transcript out loud. Record yourself, then play it back so you can compare it to the news story audio. Don't give up!

Hi, Yura, This speech definitely sounds rehearsed, but it is much more conversational as there are moments when I can tell that you are not reading off of a piece of paper. Nice work! Your vocabulary was really strong in this speech. You showed knowledge of a lot of colloquialisms like, “monkeying a...

Revealator, Thanks for sharing the information about this market. It sounds like a very unique place! First, pronunciation of the word “bazaar” is off a bit in your speech. The emphasis should be on “-ZAAR.” The “BA-“ part sounds like “buh,” “not “ba.” So you want it to sound like “buhzar” instead o...
