Query on General Writing task 2

Hi ,
Query Regarding General task 2

1. Is is true that if we write more words >275 we get more marks and to get a band of 8
approx 300 words should be written?
2. If we write introduction para using few words from question , that is not counted as
word count? Is this correct?
3. Is space given sufficient to write 300 words?
4. Can we write with pencil ?
5. Do words with more character gets more marks?

Please guide.

Hi Avijit,
Great bunch of questions!
1. Writing more words does not automatically get you a higher score, but - if you are writing the additional words to develop good points, using quality vocab and grammar - it certainly helps.
2. You should change as many of the words and phrases from the rubric (= question) as you can, but you don't have to change everything. As long as you change a few things, the words will be included in the total. My experience is that 90-95% of candidates make enough changes.
3. Yes.
4. Yes. In fact, it is strongly recommended as you can use an eraser to make changes.
5. Yes, as long as you use them appropriately and correctly. In my experience, many candidates do not do this and so do not achieve as high a score as they could.
