The bar chart compares the smoking percentages among Scottish females from 2003 to 2005.
It can be seen that the largest smoking proportion was from the women who aged 25 to 44 between 2003 and 2005. Females who are over 75-year-old smoked the least for the same period.
There were 32% of young females aged 16 to 24 who were reported to have a smoking habit in 2003 whereas the figures for the same group in year 2004 and 2005 were slightly lower, at 26% and 28%. Nearly three in every ten Scottish females aged 45 to 59 committed to smoke in 2003 and 2005, in contrast, slightly over a quarter of women from the same age group admitted that they like smoking in 2004. The figures for the group of 25-to 34-year-olds and 35-to 44- years-olds were relatively similar in term of the smoking percentages in all the three years, with 32%, 31% and 27% respectively.
Less than 25% of Women between 60 and 74 years old smoked between years 2003 and 2005. However, the figures decreased dramatically with the increase in age. There were less than 15% of women aged over 75 who reported to smoke from 2003 to 2005.
