Task - More and more students are choosing to study at colleges and universities in foreign countries. Do the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the drawbacks?

Increasing number of students electing to study at universities and colleges in foreign countries, is a familiar sight in this day and age. Although, it is argued that there are many drawbacks to this trend, advantages this provide in the areas of education and personal development are overwhelming and outweigh the drawbacks.

First of all, students choose foreign institutions over their local universities or colleges due to the quality of education they provide. They are cognizant of the fact that, opportunities to garner more and more information regarding the subjects they are intending to study, exists. Moreover, limitations they may encounter when selecting their scope of study at local universities, will not be present and they will be free to select from a broader scope of subjects to master. Not only that, but also the experience and expertise of the lecturers will be much more advanced to those at local institutions. In addition to those opportunities during the studying period, the recognition the students are inevitably going to get all over the world with their foreign education, will stand them in good stead when they are seeking for career opportunities.

Although, students choose to travel abroad in order to develop their education, lessons they will ultimately learn to develop their personal life will be immense. From the moment they land on a foreign environment, they will be on their own with minimum help from others. Therefore, they will have no option, but to adjust. Besides that, they will have to interact with different people at the university and the outside world, who are from various cultural and geographical backgrounds. For instance, a student who travels to USA from an Asian country, might have to live and study with students from Europe and Africa, providing them with the opportunities to learn their cultures.

In conclusion, in a day and age where more and more students contemplating the option of studying at foreign universities and colleges, it is quite comprehensible that there are enormous amount of advantages which comfortably outweigh some of the drawbacks.
