It is an undeniable fact that television influences the children in their life in different ways. There is an ongoing debate about the positive and negative outcomes of television impact on child. Despite the truth that, television brings educative information to the children, I personally believe that television also adds its harmful effects on the children. This can be proven by analyzing the increase in the crime among children and decreased academic performance of child.
Television has a vital role in the rapid increase in the crime rate among the children. By watching blood shed programs and crime based movies affect the child’s mental and behavioral aspects which mould them to act as a person who does morally wrong things. This can be illustrated by an example of 14 year old boy who killed a number of classmates after watching the movie “Terminator”. It is clear from this example that television affects the child in a negative way.
In addition to this, television can act as a catalyst in child’s academic performance. Spending too much time in front of the television affect the child’s interest in studies negatively which result in a lower academic score. It is an evident based fact that a child obtain low grades who spend more time on the television than a child who concentrate on the studies. So this point clarifies that children can be affected in their academic performance with the influence of television.
