Artists or Scientists

Post by amitsurani101 »

It is generally agreed that society benefits from the work of its members. Compare the contribution of artists to society with the contribution of scientists to society. Which type of contribution do you think is valued more by your society? Why?

It is a known fact that science improves the quality of life, while art enables us to enjoy life by enhancing our creativity in various areas of life. To state that a society benefits from the work of its members in different fields is beyond doubt. The contribution of both artists and scientists can be known by their absence.

On the one hand, art is the creativity in various forms such as music, dance, painting and sculpture. When a competitive world gives us stress and tension, art inspires our emotions and gives us sensuous delight. Art, in addition to all these, serves the purpose in educating mass. For example, people use various art forms to create awareness on the fight against poverty, diseases and social evils. A society becomes prosperous only with the contribution of people engaged in a wide variety of activities. Mostly art is used for entertainment and people are moving towards arts to get relaxed from their stressed life.

On the other hand, science is in search of truth and, for that reason; it is a systematised body of knowledge. It has revealed many secrets of nature, and thus it has led to innumerable discoveries and inventions which, in turn, have made life comfortable, luxurious and easy. Science has facilitated human in every sphere of life and while we pollute the environment and deplete the resources of earth, we turn to scientists for solutions. However, unlike artists, they work behind the scene. Although, they get much less attention, many of the facilities and comforts we enjoy today are the products of their work.

Briefly concluding the discussion, scientists, despite staying behind scenes they serve for the betterment but artists are also important as without art life would become monotonous hence both have importance on separate purposes.
