Topic: Today the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Recently, people buy consumer goods much more often than ever. One of the culprits of this trend is the way that these products are advertised. Although there are cases that they are bought to supply real needs, in the majority of cases people are buying because they were influenced by the media. In this essay we are going to discuss the influence that media have over the market.

Firstly, the most common attraction of a consumer good is, how many features it has, and this is what advertisement highlight. For example, the sales of television had a drastic increase after 3D feature was implemented. In addition, media also advertised this feature as an unique experience that everybody must have. For this reason it is clear that the influence of commercial in the consumer goods sales.

Secondly, due to the high demand, the price tend to drop. Therefore, adding another argument to commercials influence people's decision to buy more and more. For instance, nowadays, it is common when something break, instead of fixing, it is cheaper if you buy a brand new one with also additional features. Thus it is undeniable that the power of advertising can change the economy flow.

In conclusion, it is totally agreed that media manipulation is the main factor that triggers people desire to buy new consumer goods. Moreover, advertising extra features and lower prices of products is a very powerful weapon for the market. Also with the continous enhancement of technology, we can predict that the consumer goods market will remain stable at the top for long time.
