Tourism - disadvantage outweighs advantages

Post by Ruchi23 »

International tourism has brought enormous benefit to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment.
Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

Tourism is considered as one of the foremost way for economic progress of any country. However, in past few years the surge in tourism have highlighted many issues, which are negatively affecting the residents of a country. In this essay, I am going to discuss both the positives and the negatives of increasing tourism.
On the positive side, high rate of tourism have helped in economic progress of our country. In recent years, government has spent a lot of money to enhance the infrastructure of tourist places and developed more venues of public interests .To illustrate recently more amusement parks are created where people can spend quality time with their families. Consequently, it attracts tourist from all parts of the world, which means more transaction in foreign currency, which will lead to monetary gain for host country.
On the negative side, due to number of tourists visiting throughout the year lack of proper sanitation facilities creates multiple health hazards for residents. Moreover, places are overcrowded, which consequently causes lot of traffic congestion. People feel restricted in their own hometown due to scarcity of basic amenities. This is also one of the main reasons for increasing health issues and spread of viruses in some areas.

In my opinion, rise in tourism is adversely affecting the residents but it is not something, which cannot be managed effectively. Considering the benefits it brings for overall growth of the country government should look at ways of properly managing the impacted areas by increasing the facilities.
