Task2 cambridge 8 test1

Post by Dr.Zahra »

Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It is true that in school children acquire the most of knowledge in variety of subjects, however, some qualities and attitudes are gained from their families. This essay will look at both sides and reach a reasonable conclusion.

Undoubtedly, school inculcate countless characters in children which prepare them to be an effective members in their communities. Firstly discipline, as child learn how to respect others and listen to his/her own teacher. In future, this will obviously reflected in children behavior as they understand that rules are applied on all and everybody should obey them. Secondly, attending classes will nurture the children’ sense of responsibility and enhance their awareness to time. In addition, timing of classes teach them how to be organized, make them respect time and force them to keep order. Finally, the presence among their peers in school doing activities together, develop team spirit trait and openness on the surrounding. All the mentioned above traits if inculcated correctly a child will play a significant role in his/her society.

Nevertheless, other people think that parents are strongly responsible in nurturing love of others and sense of responsibility toward the child surrounding. For instance, if we compared two scenarios of a family with a child who threw an empty can in the street. If the family told their child that this was wrong and made him throw it into the garbage, their child will be aware to quality of his/her actions. However, if the family skipped such behavior and did not pay attention to this, in future, their child may grow to become a wrongdoer or even a law disobedient individual.

To conclude, I believe that both school and families inculcate good characters and sense of involvement to the community in children, but parents should be keen to retain and burnish good qualities that their children have acquired from school.
