pls rate my essay: In the past, when students did a university degree

Post by ramogi »

In the past, when students did a university degree, they tended to study in their own country. Now, they have more opportunity to study abroad. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this development

Education is the most primary factor for growth of any nation. An educated person helps in bringing about a change in society. These 3 to 5 years of university education helps in shaping youths personality.

Studying abroad is not a very new phenomenon. Few years back only the rich could afford to send their children out of their home country to study but this has become a trend nowadays which in my opinion is not wrong. It gives a chance to a child to explore the various cultures, discuss ideas on international issues, help them make new friends worldwide and prepares them to adapt to the challenging world ahead of them with confidence. With the advent of internet, things have become much easier. Earlier, people had to struggle to find the right universities and courses matching their interest but now children can find the specialized courses which are not available in their country.

Having said that, there are a few disadvantages of studying abroad. Some middle class families cannot afford to send their children abroad and children suffer from depression and can take extreme steps. Also, most of the children do not return back to their home country and this situation leads to brain drain. Furthermore, when a child studies abroad it leads to economic loss as a lot of funds are then transferred to other countries.

Having a broader outlook is the need of the hour. As most of the companies now look for candidates who have international exposure, it has become a necessity to have such exposure. One of the ways to counter the negatives mentioned above is to invite world renowned institutes to open up branches in one’s own country.
