Task 2

Post by Renard »

"Prevention is better than cure."
Out of a country's health budget, a large proportion should be diverted from treatment to
spending on health education and preventative measures.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Few years ago, it has became commonly popular to talk more about health education and diseases' prevention. This can be seen as a propose for government, that could take benefits restructuring a health budget. It will be shown how society and government could benefit from restructuring a health budget. This will be shown by taking into account that prevention and education make it possible to decrease the amount of ill people.
Looking first at the main benefit, which is decreasing the amount of diseases' rate. For example, many diseases, especially infectious ones, could be prevented by preventative measures and knowledge about protection. It is obvious that a low rate of infectious diseases is a positive aspect for society as well as for economy, because treatment would take much less money.
As for chronic diseases, advantages are more obvious. Lifestyle could be taken to illustrate this thesis. It goes without saying that knowledge about healthy lifestyle and healthy diet will be able to decrease the rate of illnesses, such as diabetes. Thus, there is an evidence link between education and health rate.
Following the analyses of benefits that could be brought by paying attention to prevention measures in a health budget, it could be argued that prevention should be consider much more properly. As has been proven both prevention and education leads to the minimizing the numbers of ill people as well as the amount of money giving for their treatment. It is expected that properly preventions measures is the one of the important ways to improve quality of life in a country.
