is there an ideal structure for writing essays in Ielts?

Post by terry3218 »

Hi, so far I've come across two main kinds of essay structures for argument kind of essays where you have to present an argument and express your opinion on topics.

One structure says that in introduction paragraph you should write both for and against the argument briefly and then the 1st main body paragraph should include the why something in your opinion is not a good idea, afterwards the 2nd and third body paragraph should include why something is a good idea in your opinion.

The other structure says that in introduction you should give some background information and indicate briefly what's your point of view on the issue and in subsequent body paragraphs you should only discuss your point of view and not the opposing point of view.

So I want to ask which of the above mentioned structures is better?
