Owing to the rapid development of computer science, computers have become an indispensable factor in our life. Therefore, some people declare that modern education should rely on internet instead of going to school. In this essay, I would like to look at why some people think so and at why some people, including myself, hold the opposite idea.
Initially, plenty of information and knowledge could be easily found via a computer, thereby breaking the limitations of school curriculums and satisfying students’ individual needs. Not only can this fulfill one’s specific potential, but lets students learn at their own pace, which more efficient than lectures at school. In addition, being professional in computer skills has been a crucial ability in modern society, so children who are familiar with internet and computer at an early age can acquire better career prospects.
However, computers an internet in education are not necessarily flawless. One possible problem is that exposure of violence online is of negative impact, resulting in anti-social behaviours as youngsters may not have a good understanding of upright conduct. Besides, school is a society in miniature, by that I mean students can foster socialising ability and hone their communication skills through the interaction with others in school. That is a great preparation before students leave school.
In conclusion, computers and internet, indeed, can bring benefits to students. In my opinion, however, schooling should not be replaced by them. If students did not go to school, they would not be well-rounded people in the future.
