Some people think certain prisoners should be made to do unpaid community work instead of being put behind bars. To what extent do you agree?

In the modern century, social order is firmly upheld under the unbiased judicial system and law. For this reason, the safety and rights throughout the society are moderately protected. However, some insist that the prison sentence should be replaced by unpaid community work for a number of criminals, while I strongly believe that the punishment should fit the crime for the primary purpose of that deters people from committing crimes. Since both imprisonment and social work meet those goals, one or another may be more suitable in some cases.

On one hand, community service order can be an alternative sentencing option for persons convicted of proportionately light crimes such as loitering or other victimless crimes. It provides offenders with the opportunity to pay back the community for their offending behaviour. Hence, it assists in their rehabilitation by developing and improving work-related skills. However, good behavior in community service only can be an alternative mitigation of punishment for capital criminals. For instance, drug tealer should be sent to jail due to the social security instead of being too lenient.

On the other hand, prison sentence is a reliable and moral system. Admittedly, it not only constructs a rigorous environment to prevent the lawbreakers tackle crime another time, but also provides training and education opportunity to give them a fresh start. Proportionately, heavy anti-social behaviour can be rectified under this strict penalties. More importantly, prison functions as a deterrence to intimidate people never break the law because there is a grave price behind that is losing freedom, relationship and given an ever-accusation.

Ultimately, community service can be an alternative option for some light offenders and one of the means in mitigation of disciplining for capital criminals in order to resocialize the offenders and protect the society from crimes. Both of these two penalties have a place for different circumstances.

On one hand, a community service order can be an alternative sentencing option for persons convicted of relatively light crimes such as loitering or other victimless crimes. It provides offenders with the opportunity to pay back the community for their offending behaviour. Hence, it assists in their rehabilitation by developing and improving work-related skills. However, good behavior in community service only can be an alternative mitigation of punishment for capital criminals.(<--I don't understand this sentence.) For instance, drug dealers should be sent to jail due to social security instead of being too lenient.

On the other hand, a prison sentence is a reliable and moral system. Admittedly, it not only constructs a rigorous environment to prevent repeat offending, but also provides training and educational opportunities to give them a fresh start. Proportionately, heavy anti-social behaviour can be rectified under this strict penalty. More importantly, prison functions as a deterrent to intimidate people to never break the law because there is a grave price behind that of losing one's freedom, relationships and given an ever-accusation (<--What is 'ever-accusation'?).

Ultimately, community service can be an alternative option for some light offenders and one of the means in mitigation of disciplining for capital criminals in order to resocialize the offenders and protect the society from crimes. Both of these penalties have a place for different circumstances.
