The bar graphs illustrate the prime reasons for students of five different age groups opting to study and the level of support provided by the employers of the students.

Overall, it is clear that students below the age of 40 mainly enrol in institutions for ensuring a successful career, whereas after the age of 49 people mainly study out of interest. Also, students under the age of 26 receive the highest level of co-operation from their employees while those aged 30-39 receive the least amount of support.

80% of those aged under 26 study to improve their career prospects whereas only 10% of the people in that age group study out of interest. After that, as people age, lesser and lesser number of people choose to study for career and the proportion of people studying due to their interests rises. In fact, for the age group of 40-49, an equal proportion (40%) of students made the decision to study due to career and interest while for those aged over 49, interest is the prime reason for studying for more than two-thirds of the students.

Around 60% of the students aged under 26 receive help from their employers in the form of time off and contribution to fees and the same is true for about half of the students in the age bracket of 26 to 29. Among those aged 30-39, only about a third receive assistance from employers. The level of support rises thereafter as about 35% of the students aged 40-49 and 40% of students aged over 49 are supported by their employers.
