31. In many countries, the proportion of older people is steadily increasing. Does this trend have more positive or negative effects on the society?

There is heated debate on the issue of ageing population that, whether they have advantages or disadvantages to the society. I believe that there are many flaws that overweigh the benefits of this trend.

On the one hand, there are many drawbacks of the older people. Firstly, if there are more aged people then youth suffer from unemployment, especially if the retirement age increased. Beside this, there would be less inventions and discoveries, because older people just sticks to their own old ideas, and don’t want to adopt new ones. Secondly, it also true that when the person become older and older, their health conditions becomes weaker and would have to depend either on their families or on the government to fulfill their needs. As a consequence, the government need to pay for their health along with their pension.

On the other hand, there are also advantages to having an older population, and these are often overlooked. The most obvious benefit of them is that, aged workers in the company already had a great experience of work, and if any new young workers employed by the company, then they can easily have trained them and can utilize their new ideas. Hence there will be a chance of new techniques and results. Another main positive effect of them is that, older people tend to play a role in supporting and maintaining social networks, which in turn bind families and communities together, which normally we cannot see in our today’s world.

In conclusion, it’s seem to me that having an older population along with younger generation, have some benefits, but it’s drawbacks often serious one.

On the other hand, there are also advantages to having an older population, and these are often overlooked. The most obvious benefit is that aged workers in the company already have a great experience of work, and new, younger workers employed by the company can easily learn from the older employees and introduce new ideas. Hence there will be a chance to create new techniques and results. Another main positive effect is that older people tend to play a role in supporting and maintaining social networks, which in turn bind families and communities together, which we do not often see in today’s world.

In conclusion, having an older population along with the younger generation has some benefits, but its drawbacks are considerable.
