19. Some people are very interested in researching their family history. Other people say this is a waste of time and that we should focus instead on the present and future generations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Include reasons for your answer and any examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Investing time and effort in genealogy can be fascinating for some people, while others consider current and future generation deserve more attention. In my opinion, finding about family roots would be beneficial for people to know more about their ancestors and common things between them.

On the one hand, there are many reasons why people continue to research to find out about their ancestor’s history. Firstly, they want to discover any common trends with their family members of a previous generation. This is so, because some special gifts and skills are hereditary, and it can be interesting for people to learn how many people in their family shared these talents from previous generations. Secondly, some families moved abroad, away from their country, generation ago which resulted in losing their identity or culture and adopting abroad culture. Therefore, by researching they can find out their country of origin and can understand more about their native culture from they originally belong to. Finally, people feel proud when they know that their family had such a glorious history.

On the other hand, not everyone interested in researching about their family history. The most obvious reason is that, some of the people don’t have such a glorious family history. Hence, they feel that trend of researching family history may reveal embarrassing or disturbing information about their ancestors that they don’t want. In their opinion, our present is more important than past, because past is a past and we cannot change this. Another reason to support their viewpoint is that, nowadays science and technology is the most important aspects in our life. So, instead of wasting time on researching about our ancestor history, they want to devote their time in discovering new technology that help to decrease the today’s world problems.

In conclusion, it can be advantageous for people to care about their present, but by knowing about their family history you can discover many things and also this creating a sense of belonging for a family.
