Task 2 Kindly evaluate.

Post by zeeshi16 »

Kindly evaluate my Task 2 Word Count: 282 words
Time Taken: 30 mins
Topic:
Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime
Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment.
-
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Any crime committed entitles a person for some sort of punishment. Without it, people would go around causing mischiefs without ever worrying about the consequences. Some people argue that there should be a predetermined penalty for each type of crime. Others assert that consideration should be given to the factors which forces a person to commit the crime. Both these views would be looked upon in the following discussion in this order.

There are people who are of the opinion that the punishments awarded for each type of crime should be permanent without taking into account any particular on-the-scene circumstances. For example, if fixed repercussions are not ordained beforehand, the rich criminals, hiring the services of experienced lawyers and false witnesses, may mislead the justice system and go free or mitigate their sentences. The poor, on the other hand, may have to bear the axe in such situations. So, these people opinionate that having fixed punishments may ignore the class differences.

Contrary to the aforementioned opinion, other people dictate that factors such as the motivation and other particulars of a crime should be accounted for before announcing any judgment on a crime. This view can be exemplified by a famous novel in which a man stole a loaf of bread for his sick sister and was later pursued by the law for almost two decades. Had his circumstances been looked upon, he might have received a meagre penalty. These sorts of examples may support dynamic punishments.

Taking into account both the views, I am of the opinion that having fixed punishments may avoid many technicalities and would likely bring the wrong-doers to justice. A crime, no matter how small, should be punished.

Hello!

This is a good essay. Points are clear and there is good development, particularly in the second main paragraph. Vocabulary and grammar are good, both in terms of range and accuracy.

All the best,
David
