[Review needed]- Discipline and right and wrong education or nurturing in safe environment for children.

Post by Xbb »

Some people think that the role of parents is to discipline their children and teach them about right and wrong. Other people consider that the main responsibility of parents is to nurture their children and provide them with a safe environment to grow up in.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People have different views on the ultimate roles of parents in the today’s fast-paced life. While it is believed by some that parents should ensure sufficient disciplinary and moral education to their offsprings, others argue that parents should only focus on nurturing their offsprings in a healthy environment. Personally, I believe these two methods are equally important and it is up to particular situations that parents should choose their most suitable ones.

On the one hand, disciplinary and ethical education could bring immense benefits to children. For one, a strict disciplinary regime, especially at the very early stages of life, could help children propel towards self-reliant individuals in the future. For instance, my friend’s five year-old son could prepare his personal belongings by himself whenever joining family vacations which should be attributed to his parents’ early proactive trainings. In addition, proper moral education could enlighten the young minds about the perceptions of right and wrong which consequently could shape their firm moral standards, the vital precursors to the development of good citizens for societies. It could be exemplified by a recent statistics in Vietnam shows that a vast majority of criminals had their childhoods lacking moral educations from their families, thus, it is prudent to appreciate ethical education amongst children.

On the other hand, parents’ concentration on nurturing their offsprings in a secure environment has considerable merits. Firstly, sufficient nurture could provide comfortable childhood and allow children to explore their personal propensities with sufficient liberalness. Especially in the settings of today’s life where creative and disruptive thinking are highly recommended in both academic and business environments, this sort of provision from parents could create the solid foundation for their adolescents’ future success. Secondly, living in a safe environment could foster children’s positive mindset, which is a crucial cornerstone to develop their healthy views about humans and society as a whole. For example, in many areas of the world, the local communities are seen to be healthier when their individuals have active lifestyles and respectful behavior to others; thus, the subsequent advantages of provision of secure environment to children are clear.

In conclusion, I personally believe that both educating discipline together with moral and nurturing children in a safe environment have comparable advantages and it would solely be parents’ decision to consider and apply the most suitable methods to their beloved offsprings.
