Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of the technology. In what ways has affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive or negative development?

The advancement of modern technology has significantly reshaped the landscape of relationships between people. While this change has its certain negative impacts on people’s lives, it seems to me that it is generally a positive move.

As being widely accepted, some new technologies like mobile phone and Internet sometimes harm to the relationships between family members and friends. The major concern about mobile phone and Internet is that people are increasingly rely on them and often spend too much time on them. As a result, some quality time which people can use to build or strengthen their real-life relationships is sacrificed. For example, it is quite common these days to see every young people keep looking at their mobile phones without bothering talk to their family members when having a family party.

However, technologies also help people to maintain and build new relationships. Firstly, mobile phone and Internet provide much more efficient ways for people to contact their relatives and friends. For instance, students who study in a city far away from their hometown can easily make a phone call to their parents or friends, which is unimaginable back to old times. Secondly, new developments like social media offer people opportunities to make new friends in a way people have never experienced before. For instance, people can easily find new friends who have same hobbies and interests through social media. Communities can be created on social media as well, through which people can share their experiences and understandings.

To conclude, it is true that the way that people interact with others has been changed by modern technology. While this trend could be harmful to relationships between people, I would say, it contributes more to building and maintaining relationships.
