The first trend, the United States unemployment rate, started at 7.0 percent in March 1993 and experienced decrease with light variations over the period of time in question. The trend fell sharply to reach 5.5 percent in March 1995. After an insignificant increase in the next few months, it went almost unchangeably over a year. The trend continued to fall unpredictably to reach 5 per cent in March 1997 and just over 4 per cent in March 1999.
The second trade, the Japan rate of unemployment, is negatively correlated. It started at 2.5 percent and then swell sharply with light variations to reach 3.5 percent in March 1996. After a quite significant fall and a rebound in 1996 it went almost unchangeably until March 1998. The trend then continued to rise sharply and took over the United States’ unemployment rate between 1998 and 1999 to reach just over 4.5 percent in March 1999.
