Failing to continue practice and advise during actual exam

Post by saqibali »

I have observed one issue and I would like to seek your advice or tips.

during exam, I tend to forget most of the advices, tips and practices and my experiences and I tend to be too fast and out of my normal practice and my normal mindset which negatively affect my performance.
Do you have any tip or suggestion for this?

Hi Saqibali,

This shouldn't happen if you've practiced extensively under exam-like conditions. Also, keep in mind that the examiner wants to see you succeed. Their questions are designed to allow you to demonstrate your abilities, so there is no reason you should feel intimidated by the examination process.

It sounds as though you are aware of the problem, so do what you can to fix it. Create mock exams with your speaking partner. Record yourself. Monitor your speed. Pinpoint the errors. With a proactive approach, I'm sure you can overcome the nervousness.

Hi Soni,

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. You need to provide a clear response to anything the examiner asks you, so if the question "what country are you from" comes up, you must say "I am from India". If the question is worded "where are you from" and you are an Indian person taking the IELTS in India, refer to your city. You wouldn't lose marks for saying "India" here, but answering with your city mildly demonstrates an understanding of context.
