Will remark will reduce the current mark?

Post by antsatno »

Hi All,

I'm planning to apply for re-val in writing. I'm wondering after I applied, my mark can go down or not. For example, if had got 6 in writing, after re-mark is there a chance it can go down below current mark 6? Please let me know.

No, it's not gonna degrade your existing score. Senior examiners check the writing task when it is sent for re-check and they evaluation your task again & if it deserves more score it is granted to you. If your score increases your re-check fee is refunded in full. However, it take from 6-8 week time for the result of re-check.

AFAIK, no, the score won't reduce. IELTS / BC / IDP are a bit vague on this.

Note: I've edited my previous post which said that scores could go down. I cited this page: https://support.cambridgeenglish.org/hc ... nd-Appeals
However, that page has been edited since my post, and the page now makes clear that the information does not apply to IELTS, only to other Cambridge English examinations.
