Nura challenged her writing band 6.5 and it was bumped to 7.5! (IELTSCast Episode 39)

Last week, I talked with Nora, and IELTS candidate with a few very unique insights into the examination. For one, she scored an overall band of 6.5 twice in mid 2014, but raised this to band 8 following some specific tweaking to her exam approach. She also exercised an EOR and had her writing band s...

Mock IELTS speaking demonstration and exercise by Ryan

I'm a big fan of mimicry as an exercise to help polish an IELTS candidate's pronunciation and general language accuracy. These two videos are a little older (originally published in late 2013), but I think they provide a pretty solid intonation workout and allow students to role play a strong IELTS ...

An update from Ryan's side...

The format of this episode of IELTSCast is a little different. It isn't an interview. It's just me talking about my personal and professional situation over the past year and what I'm hoping to do within the online IELTS community into 2016: http://traffic.libsyn.com/ieltscast/IELTSCast_Episode_38_-...

8, 8, 6.5, 8.5 - This candidate needs help raising funds for EOR...

I'll quote what I put on the Facebook page: PLEASE READ! A candidate that took the IELTS in India has scored bands 8, 8, 6.5 and 8.5 and is considering EOR. An EOR in this situation could bump the writing band up slightly to put it more in line with the other three skills. The problem is that this c...

My conversation with David, a band 8.5 success story

It was a true privilege to talk to David about his success. He's an articulate guy and had a few new study strategies I had never heard of (i.e. recording yourself using Whatsapp - brilliant!) Re: I scored 8.5 with a 30 day prep calendar

I got my IELTS and to my surprise it was 8.5 (L:9, R:9, W:8, S:8). I did not join any course or spend a penny to "learn" about the test. The Internet is a great place which has every possible info about IELTS. When I decided to take IELTS, I read about the test and how to prepare from var...

Re: 7.5 overall

Hi Luma7,

Congratulations! That is quite the jump in your writing band (6 to 7.5)! It looks as though your reading and speaking marks also experienced growth. How were you preparing for these sections? Are you planning to take the exam again or is this the grade you need?
