If there are no changes in the test, you will be paying something for ERF. If you are not that confident about the changes in scoring, better retake the test than re-evaluating it. the IELTS test results is only valid for 2 years. You need to retake the exam again since it was taken last 2012.

Your writing will be judged by:
  • task achievement or task response
    coherence and cohesion
    grammatical range and accuracy
    lexical resource

It really depends on what IELTS test result you will send to the university. But if you take the exam again, if I'm not mistaken, the latest result will be your current score and the previous one will not be honored.

Yes, I agree. Both British Council and IDP have the same grading system/criteria when it comes to the IELTS. Both of them also give the same exam. The differences would be on the test fee and venue.

I agree that you need to take a diagnostic test first to know your strengths and weakness in the four components of the IELTS test.
